EURA AWARD FOR JUNIOR URBAN RESEARCHERS







With the special collaboration of

EURA is announcing a competition for junior research scholars working on urban issues.

1. Competition is open for PhD candidates or persons who obtained a PhD not earlier than in 2008 and who are under 30 years old.

2. Interested scholars should send their research papers in electronic version to:

Pawel Swianiewicz at pswian@uw.edu.pl or

Liliana Padovani at padovani@iuav.it before 1 September 2009.

3. One person can submit only one paper.

4. Papers should be 5,000-9,000 words long and should refer to original empirical research conducted by the applicant.

5. Papers may represent urban studies of different disciplines, such as planning, political science, urban sociology, urban geography, economics etc.

6. Papers will be assessed by the jury nominated by the EURA Board.

7. Prizes to be awarded include:

a. Presentation at the 13th EURA Annual Conference in Darmstadt in September 2010 (the conference fee will be paid by EURA).

b. Recommendation for the publication of the paper in the EURA journal “Urban Policy and Practice”

c. Publication of summary of the paper (about 1,500-2,500 words) in EURA Newsletter (probably Spring 2010 issue)

d. Letter of appreciation sent to the authors of awarder paper and published on EURA website and in EURA Newsletter.
